Bring unwanted lightly used plastic bags and learn how to up-cycle them into PLARN.  Plarn is a a way we transform plastic bags into a strand we can use in various textile processes such as crochet and weaving.  The Plarn Parties are meant to be a hub of fun and learning for up-cycling the bags to contribute to the Bag the Bag Community Project.  We share a mission with Councilman Mark Squilla towards banning single use plastic bags.  You will be making a contribution to a long-standing community project that will pop up in various places throughout the city and then be showcased in July 2019.  We are inviting community participation at our various pop ups to join in the weaving process of the large-scale tapestries from the plastic bags that will spell out our mission; ‘Bag the Bag’. This is happening now through June to continue to bring awareness of our own participation and in celebration and support of the ban of single use plastics here in Philadelphia
